Laser Scanner use for data processing of the Galerios Arch in Thessaloniki

The arch or triumphal arch of Galerius, known today as “Kamara”. It is in its original form of an eight gate with four massive central pillars, 4 the secondary side, and as many bows low spheroidal dome.

Nowadays two main pillars and a secondary, associated with brick arch.

The mapping was done using scanner laser and the conclusions:

  • fast downloading large measurement volume
  • data reliability
  • broad scope (archaeological sites, mines, buildings, etc.)
  • easy operation by a user
  • easy processing of data
  • many information extraction capabilities to other applications (software)
